The DDB Preservation Foundation is the brain child of a group of concerned breeders and rescuers who have been involved in the breed for decades and have seen trends come and go, have seen breed clubs nearly implode, have seen rescue explode on a world wide level (seriously, 300 or so annually in North America, and at least DOUBLE that in the United Kingdom) and have seen our beloved breed’s longevity shrink from 10-12 years to 5-8 years. There is major division amongst breeders, more so than in previous decades and very few are willing to mentor new breeders. The breed clubs are doing very little to support the breed outside of putting on a show, they are not funding health research.
